3rd generation working family farm

The Farm

the heart of the Leicestershire countryside

Location

Fair Farm Hideaway is nestled away on our 3rd generation working family farm in rural Leicestershire. The farm comprises of both livestock and arable in Waltham on the Wolds and the surrounding area.
South Devon, Aberdeen Angus and Limousin cows and calves graze the rich pasture on the farm.

By growing our own cereal crops we are able to select the best feed for our cattle from ‘home grown crops’ when they are not grazing our pasture. The crops we concentrate on are wheat, oil seed rape, grass and barley.

Welcoming guests

Fair Farm Hideaway has been happily welcoming guests since 2017. Our rural retreat comprises of 10 handmade traditional shepherd huts. Initially starting with two huts from Blackdown Shepherd Huts we then created a further eight huts on our family farm with the help of friends, family and local master craftsmen.

The Hideaway site has been carefully and thoughtfully crafted by local landscapers resulting in a mature and varied environment with privacy for each hut.  We harvested and scattered the seeds from wild flower meadows located on our farm so British wildflowers bloom every Spring throughout the Hideaway.

the wild flower meadows

To create the wild flower meadows surrounding the Shepherd huts we have harvested some of the species-rich meadows on our family farm and incorporated the seed around the site to perpetuate and preserve ‘old Leicestershire’ species.
